What are the Goals of Sustainable Development?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a global call for action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that by 2030 all enjoy peace and prosperity.

17 SDGs are compiled — recognizing that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development should balance social, economic and environmental sustainability.

Countries are committed to prioritizing progress for those who are lagging far behind. The SDGs are designed to eradicate poverty, hunger, AIDS, and discrimination against women and girls.

Innovation, awareness, technology and financial resources from the general public are needed to achieve the SDGs in every context.

In these Goals and Objectives, we set the ideal ambition and transformation. We look to a world free of

poverty, hunger, disease and deprivation, where all life can thrive. We wish for a world without fear and

violence. A world of global literacy. A world with equal and accessible access to quality education at all

levels, in health care and social protection, where physical, mental and social well-being is guaranteed. A

world in which we reaffirm our commitment to the human right to have access to clean drinking water

and sanitation and to improve sanitation; when food is adequate, safe, affordable and nutritious. A

world in which human settlements are safe, resilient and stable and where there is universal access to

affordable, reliable and sustainable energy.
